A maintenance window is a predesignated period of time during which unattended maintenance is performed. You can also initiate a firmware upgrade immediately, given that you have:
- configured a maintenance window; and
- enabled firmware upgrades in your network settings.
Firmware Upgrade
Whenever a firmware upgrade is available, an icon with two semicircular arrows will appear next to the Plasma Cloud flame status icon in the devices table. By hovering over it, the following message:
Firmware upgrade scheduled
If you wish you can upgrade now
will pop up.
Should you wish to upgrade immediately, simply click on the firmware upgrade button. However, please note the device will automatically reboot once the new firmware has been successfully installed.
Once the upgrade process starts, the arrows representing the upgrade icon will start moving. By hovering over this animated icon, the message:
Firmware upgrade in progress...
will pop up, to clearly indicate that the device is currently undergoing a firmware upgrade.
Upon successful completion, the Plasma Cloud flame status icon will reappear once again in the devices table.
Potential Issues
In case any issue arises during this process, a gray icon with two semicircular arrows will appear next to the Plasma Cloud flame status icon in the device table. Upon hovering over it, you will see the following message:
Firmware upgrade not completed
Device still running normally
Reattempting upgrade soon
It means that the device is held in the upgrade queue awaiting review. When that happens, all upgrade mechanisms are suspended until the review by the Plasma Cloud support team has taken place. No reboot or switching on/off of a maintenance window is able to override this status. In the meantime, the device will continue to operate normally with your current firmware.
In case the device keeps having issues during the upgrade process, the following error message will appear instead:
Firmware upgrade not completed
Device still running normally
