Per default, Plasma Cloud Access Points operate in WPA2/WPA3 compatibility mode. For WiFi clients using WPA3 mode, the following requirements must be met to connect successfully:
- Each private password must have at least one assigned MAC address.
- A MAC address can only be assigned to one private password entry.
If any of these requirements are not met, a warning icon appears in the first column of the table. See examples below. This indicates that WPA3 clients using the affected entry may fail to authenticate.
Private password without MAC address assignment
| Private Password | Assigned MAC Address | Status |
|---|---|---|
| OfficeWiFi123 | None | Warning displayed |
To clear the warning, assign at least one MAC address to each private password.
Same MAC address assigned to multiple private passwords
| Private Password | Assigned MAC Address | Status |
|---|---|---|
| OfficeWiFi123 | AA:BB:CC:DD:EE:FF | Warning displayed |
| GuestWiFi456 | AA:BB:CC:DD:EE:FF | Warning displayed |
To clear the warning, remove duplicate MAC address assignments.
When Weaker encryption for legacy device compatibility mode is enabled in SSID settings, WPA2 mode is enforced for all WiFi clients. Then, these WPA3 security rules no longer apply and the warning icons won't be shown. |
