How does instant WiFi optimization work?

The Plasma Cloud console allows you to trigger a WiFi optimization process outside the maintenance window. This is done by pressing the Run Now button in the WiFi AI section on your network settings page. To do so, you need to:

1. Log into the Plasma Cloud console;
2. Select the Organisation and Network of interest from the top right menu;
3. Navigate to Settings > Network in the main menu on the left;
4. Activate the WiFi AI toggle in the Wireless section;
5. Click on the Run now button.

After pressing the Run now button, you will receive a notification that the process has started. The instant WiFi optimization process consists of 3 phases:

Phase 1  - Data collection

The WiFi AI collects data through Access Points performing WiFi scans of their surroundings. Only online Access Points can perform such scans. If no online Access Point is available, the WiFi optimization process is aborted and you will receive a notification. Please ensure that at least one Access Point is online in your network before running the process again.

Phase 2 - Data assessment

The collected data is being assessed. Combined with AP status reports as well as saved user preferences, optimal configuration settings are calculated for your network.

Phase 3 - Application of new settings

The new settings are being applied to the Access Points in your network.

The entire process takes up to 30 min. Upon successful completion, you will receive a notification. Please note only one instant WiFi optimization per network can run at the same time. Pressing the Run now button again during an on-going process will have no effect.
