The Radios tab provides detailed insights into the usage of each Access Point radio. It is located on the Access Point Details page.
If a radio is disabled, its overview widget displays a Disabled status along with the reason why it is currently unavailable. A complete overview of all scenarios that can trigger a Disabled status can be found be below.
Reasons a radio may be disabled
Device settings
Each Access Point radio can be enabled or disabled individually via the Settings tab on the Access Point Details page.
In the example above, the 2.4 GHz radio is disabled in the device settings. As a result, the status Disabled by Device Settings is displayed, together with a shortcut to the Settings tab.
No SSID assigned
An Access Point requires at least one assigned SSID to broadcast a wireless network.
If no SSID is assigned, the radio cannot broadcast and the status Disabled (no SSID Assigned) is displayed.
To restore normal operation, navigate to the Settings tab and assign at least one SSID to the Access Point.
Band disabled in SSID settings
If the radio band (2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, or 6 GHz) is disabled in the assigned SSID settings, the radio cannot broadcast the SSID. The status WiFi Band Disabled in SSID Settings is displayed, together with a shortcut to the SSID settings.
In the example below, the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands are disabled, so the SSID is broadcast only on the 6 GHz radio (if supported by the Access Point).
To restore normal operation, enable the required WiFi band in the SSID settings.
WiFi Schedule enabled
If a WiFi Schedule is configured for an SSID, the associated radio is automatically enabled or disabled according to the configured schedule.
While the schedule has the radio turned off, the status "Disabled by WiFi schedule" is displayed together with a shortcut to the corresponding SSID settings.
Once the scheduled active period begins, the radio automatically resumes operation.
Unexpected error
In rare cases, a radio may be disabled due to a firmware issue, hardware failure, or another unexpected condition.
The status "Unexpected error" is displayed.
If this occurs:
- Verify that the device is running the latest firmware and that no firmware upgrade has failed.
- Reboot the Access Point.
- If the radio remains disabled, contact Plasma Cloud Support for further assistance.
