The client status tab displays the client's connection details. It is located on the Client Details page.
To go to the Client Status tab, you need to:
- Log into the Plasma Cloud console;
- Select the Organisation and Network containing the client of interest from top-right menu.
- In the main menu on the left, navigate to Clients.
- Click on the specific client you want to monitor from the table. This will take you to the Client Details page.
- Locate the Status tab, it is the first tab just below the network chart.
The Status tab provides the following client-specific details:
1st Box
- SSID: Displays the name of the SSID the client was last connected to. Clicking on the name leads to the respective SSID settings page.
- WiFi Encryption: Indicates whether the encryption is WPA2, WPA3, or none. Learn more about WPA encryption standards here.
- VLAN: If the client is connected to an SSID that is bridged to a VLAN, the used VLAN tag is shown. This VLAN tag serves as a unique identifier, segregating the client's traffic from other traffic on the network.
- Last seen: Shows the last time the WiFi client was active.
- Connected for: Indicates the amount of time the client has been connected to this Access Point.
2nd Box
- Traffic: presents the measured client upload and download values over the selected time period (last day / last week / last month).
-
Throttling: Displays the configured maximum upload and download limits (if any), along with the method used to apply throttling:
Imposed by: Indicates the source of the throttling configuration; either the SSID settings or a remote RADIUS server (“remote captive portal”). Learn more about client throttling here.
3rd Box
- IP Address: Displays the client's IP address.
4th Box
- Splash page: Shows the name of the configured splash page (if any).
-
Network Access: When a splash page is enabled, this section displays the client's authentication status:
- Restricted: The client has not yet completed the splash page login process and is restricted from accessing the network.
-
Session established: The client has successfully logged in through the splash page and has full network access.
-
Session established
: When the splash page server is unreachable, a red warning icon is displayed and the client is temporarily granted network access without requiring login.
-
Session established
- Blocked: The client is denied access to the network, due to manual intervention by an administrator.
- Granted (whitelisted): The client is whitelisted and exempt from splash page authentication, allowing direct access to the network without login.
- Session start: Indicates how long ago the session began.
- Session remaining: Shows the amount of time left before the session expires.
- User Name: Displays the user name used during authentication, if available.
The client status tab displays only data that is currently available, and hides any sections that do not apply. For example, if VLAN, throttling or splash page is not configured, all related information will be hidden. |
