The Local Management Interface is secured with a password that may be default, cloud-configured, or manually configured.
Default password
Unregistered devices, or devices that have been reset to factory settings, use the default password to access the Local Management Interface.
Cloud-configured password
When a device is added to a network via the Plasma Cloud Console, it automatically is configured with a randomized password from the cloud. This password is unique to the network and is applied uniformly to all devices within that network. It can be managed in the Web UI section within the Advanced Network Settings.
To locate the cloud-configured password, follow these steps:
- Log into the Plasma Cloud console;
- Select the organisation and network containing the device from the top right menus;
- In the main menu on the left, navigate to Settings > Network > Advanced.
- Scroll down to find the Web UI section. Click on the crossed out eye icon on the right to make the password visible. Copy the password.
Manually configured password
You may also manually configure a device password directly on the Local Management Interface.
Once a device establishes a connection to the cloud, any manually configured password will be automatically overwritten with the cloud-configured password. For devices registered in the cloud, it is recommended to manage the Web UI password exclusively through the Plasma Cloud Console. |
To manually set a password for a specific device, you need to:
- Log into the Local Management Interface of your device (see guide How to access the Local Management Interface?)
- Inside the interface, click on the 3-dot menu in the top right corner and select change password.
- A Change Password widget will appear on the Local Management Interface.
- Enter your new password into both text boxes and press the Save Settings button.
