This article explains how to access the Local Management Interface which allows you to view device status information and perform firmware upgrades.
How to access the Local Management Interface
The Local Management Interface (LMI) is an embedded web service running on Plasma Cloud device and accessible through a web browser. To connect to the LMI, enter the device’s LAN IP address in the browser’s address bar.
How to obtain the device IP address
The method for obtaining the device’s LAN IP address depends on whether a DHCP server is available on your network.
Local DHCP Server
If a DHCP server is available on your network, the device will automatically obtain an IP address.
Power on the device.
Connect it to your LAN using a network cable and any Ethernet port.
The device will receive an IP address via DHCP.
Check your local DHCP server to obtain the device IP address.
Open a web browser and navigate to the device IP address (usually in the format http://192.168.x.x).
DHCP Unavailable
If no DHCP server is available, the device assigns itself the static IP address 10.10.10.10.
To access the LMI in this case:
Power on the device.
Connect it to your LAN using a network cable and any Ethernet port.
Configure the wired network interface of your computer with a different static IP address (for example: 10.10.10.11)
Connect your computer to any Ethernet port on the device using a network cable.
Web UI Password
Once you have opened the sign in screen, you need to enter the Web UI password to access the LMI.
Troubleshooting
Login Password Information
If you are unsure which password you need to use, please refer to this article for guidance: How to change the password for the Local Management Interface?
SSL Security Warning
When you enter the device IP address in your browser, most browsers automatically use SSL security (https) for website access. It may automatically add the prefix https:// to the address. This can cause a security warning to appear. This error is expected and safe to ignore.
You have two options:
Option 1: Use HTTP
Enter the address as http://<device IP address>
This forces the browser to use HTTP and avoids the SSL warning.
Option 2: Continue with HTTPS
If you see an SSL warning, allow the browser to continue anyway.
In the example shown below, click the Advanced button and later select Proceed to <device IP address> to continue to the secure sign-in screen.
