To use the QR code scanner, your browser needs access to your device camera. This access is controlled through your browser camera permission settings.
There are three possible camera permission states:
Permission not set: Camera access not granted nor denied.
Permission granted: Camera access is allowed.
Permission denied: Camera access is blocked.
Details about each state can be found below:
Permission not set
If camera access hasn’t been allowed or denied yet, you'll see a screen like this:
Click the “Request Permission” button to prompt your browser to ask for camera access.
Depending on your browser, the prompt may vary. For example, in Google Chrome, you might see:
“Allow this time”
“Allow while visiting the site”
Choose one of these options to proceed with QR code scanning.
Permission granted
Once you've allowed camera access, the scanner will open automatically. You can now point your camera at the QR code to scan it.
Permission denied
If camera permissions have been denied, the “Request Permission” button will not appear. Instead, you’ll see the following error: "Camera access blocked by browser settings"
To unblock the camera in Chrome browser:
Open your browser Settings.
Navigate to Privacy & Security > Site Settings > Camera.
Locate the site and allow camera access manually.
Refresh the page and try again.
For other browsers, consult their official support resources to learn how to adjust camera settings.
