Access Point Connectivity Tab

The Connectivity tab provides detailed insights into a device's connection from every port. It can be found on the Access Point Details page.

To go to the device Connectivity tab, you need to:

1. Log into the Plasma Cloud console;
2. Select the Organisation and Network containing the device from the top-right menu.
3. In the main menu on the left, navigate to Access Points.
4. Click on the device of interest in the table. This will take you to the Device Details page.
5. Select the Connectivity tab below the network chart.

Device Widget

The device widget on the left displays basic information about the selected device, including its name, model icon, and model name. Use the Port dropdown to select a port and view its connection details. 

The Port Type box indicates the maximum supported link speed of the selected port. The Capability box shows the WiFi standards supported by the AP model.

Connection Widget

The connection widget in the center displays details about the selected connection. The information shown depends on whether the device uses a wired or wireless uplink.

Wired connection

In case of wired uplink connection, the connection widget displays the Link type (Ethernet or SFP), connected ports, link speed, status such as uplink, and PoE consumption of the device, if any.

When the link speed falls below the maximum achievable link speed, the Console displays a Link Speed and Max Link Speed field to help identify potential speed bottlenecks. For details, please see this article.

Wireless connection

Mesh mode

When an Access Point is connected to another AP through a Mesh, the option "Mesh" appears in the Port dropdown. 

When selected, the connection widget displays all frequency bands used by the mesh connection (2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, 6 GHz). For each frequency band, you can see the used channel width, channel utilization, measured speed, and signal strength, respectively.

Recovery mode

When an Access Point enters Recovery Mode, the option "Recovery Mode" appears in the Port dropdown. The connection widget then displays the frequency band used to connect to the uplink device, together with channel width, channel utilization, measured speed, and signal strength are displayed. 

Connected Device Widget

The Connected Device widget on the right displays information about the device on the other side, including its name, model icon, and model or vendor name.

Unknown Device

If the Connected device is an unknown third-party device, limited information may be available. In such cases, a "no info" icon is used as the model icon, the MAC address may be displayed if no device name was detected, and the speed and port type information may be marked as N/A if not shared with Plasma Cloud.

Click on the Connected Device name in the right widget to jump directly to the Device Details page of the uplink device for easy configuration and management.
