The Downstream Devices widget, located on the Switch Details page, displays the total number of unique downstream clients over a selected time period. For a general overview of the Switch Details page, please refer to this article.
What is the Difference Between Downstream Devices and Active Clients?
In the example above, the widget shows 7 downstream devices, while the traffic chart below indicates 4 active devices.
- Downstream Devices refers to the total count of unique devices that have connected to the Switch during the selected time period.
- Active Devices indicates the number of currently connected devices at any given moment.
If one device disconnects and another connects, the active device count remains constant, as it only tracks simultaneous connections. In contrast, the downstream device count increases as it recognizes each unique device individually.
