A network can contain a variety of device types, such as Access Points, Switches, VoIP phones and many more. The Plasma Cloud Console detects and visualizes as many devices as possible to give an accurate network overview. This article explains how different device types are represented on the Plasma Cloud Console.
Own Devices
Devices registered to your Plasma Cloud account and assigned to your currently selected network are considered own devices. These appear in blue:
| Plasma Cloud Switch | |
| Plasma Cloud Access Point | |
| Plasma Cloud Media Converter |
Third Party Devices
Devices detected on the LAN that are not part of your currently selected Plasma Cloud network are classified as third-party devices. These are displayed in red:
| Switch | |
| Access Point | |
| Media Converter | |
| Router | |
| Telephone | |
| Station | |
| Unknown device type | |

Device Identification: LLDP vs. Non-LLDP
Whether a connected device displays a name or just a MAC address in the Plasma Cloud Console depends on its support for LLDP (Link Layer Discovery Protocol). LLDP enables devices to broadcast their identity, including name and device type, making them easier to identify.
LLDP-capable devices will display their name. Devices without LLDP support will show only their MAC address.

All Plasma Cloud devices are LLDP-capable.
